MOSS BLUFF, LA (KPLC) – A shooting in Moss Bluff early Sunday morning that left a woman injured was the result of an altercation between two groups of bikers, authorities said.
Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kayla Vincent said detectives believe the fight was between the Bandidos MC and the Misfits MC. She said the Bandidos were a “recognized outlaw motorcycle gang.”
When deputies arrived at Ole Habits Bar around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, they found a woman who had been shot in the lower back, Vincent said. She underwent emergency surgery at a local hospital.
A fight involving several people broke out outside the bar, during which several shots were fired, Vincent said. Deputies found a handgun and several casings near the woman who had been shot.
Justin D. Wareham, 40, and John M. LaPointe Jr., 39, both of Westlake, were arrested, Vincent said.
Wareham was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on charges of aggravated battery during the commission of a violent crime and unlawful use of a weapon. Judge Tony Fazio set bond at $250,000.
Lapointe was charged with assault with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. Fazio’s bond was set at $200,000.
