Guwahati: The Assam government on Wednesday launched a special program aimed at increasing agricultural production and doubling the income of farmers.
A special initiative, Assam Millet Mission, was launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for this purpose.
“Launched Assam Millet Mission, aimed at increasing nutrition & doubling farmers’ income. To increase productivity, it will also help in crop diversification,” Sarma tweeted.
“Distributed power generators, pumps, small trucks, harvesters, seeds, financial assistance to beneficiaries,” he added.
The minister also inaugurated six laboratories for soil and quality testing and two knowledge centers, which will help the nation to be self-sufficient in agriculture.
