The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a shooting on Los Beros Road. in rural areas as 28-year-old Alexander Montero Pillay of Arroyo Grande.
It happened on Friday, November 4, 2022 at around 8 pm.
Sheriff’s officials initially described the shooting as the result of “road rage.” Multiple witnesses reportedly told investigators that there was a collision between two vehicles, the vehicles stopped on Los Beros Road, and the passengers got out of the vehicle and got into a physical fight.
Pillai, who was shot, died at a local hospital.
Sheriff’s officials say witnesses were unable to provide a description of the suspect or information to positively identify the other vehicle involved.
Investigators say it’s unclear what sparked the fight and whether it was gang-related. They say this is believed to be an isolated incident.
