Lynchburg, Va. (WDBJ) – Update: Lewis was taken into custody without incident at the Jacksonville International Airport in Jacksonville, Florida around 2:00 p.m.
He is in state custody pending extradition proceedings.

We also want to thank our local law enforcement partners, the United States Marshals Service, the Jacksonville Police Department, and the Jacksonville Airport Police for their assistance.
Previous story: The Lynchburg Police Department has identified the suspect in Friday night’s homicide at the Iron and Ale restaurant on Cornerstone Street.
Derek Allen Lewis, 31, is wanted in connection with the shooting death of Tyler Shane Johnson, 28. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately and not to approach him.
Charges against Lewis include second-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Lewis was last seen driving a black 2017 Ford Escape with Virginia license plate 9157VH and wearing a red shirt and red pants. Police described him as white, with a red/brown beard and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white and yellow print on the front. He wore a backwards baseball cap, dark long shorts and dark tennis shoes “with a white check.”
Lynchburg Police responded to a report of shots fired at the restaurant Friday night around 9:15 p.m. Other callers reported that someone had been shot. People at the restaurant worked with first responders to apply life-saving measures on Johnson, but were unsuccessful.
