District Legal Services Authority, Imphal West (DLSA, IW) in collaboration with Manipur Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), District Police, Imphal West and District Administration, Imphal West organized the ‘Nokphade Legal Awareness Street Play’ done by the “Nokphade Team” today in Ima Keithel.
According to a source, this was done as part of the closure of the national program “Empowering Citizens Legally and Educating” and “Haq humara bhi to [email protected]”.
The program was conducted in the presence of Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, District and Sub-Divisional Judge, Imphal West and Chairman, DLSA, IW; Ojesh Mutum, Member Secretary, MASLSA and Janggoulen Haokip, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and Secretary, DLSA, IW. The program was attended by general public, Imphal West district police team, law students and staff of DLSA, IW.
About 400 people attended the aforementioned event.
During the play, there were talks about general legal awareness to the public, such as the prevention of child marriage, child labor, child abuse, trafficking, legal aid for people with others. route i) Legal Aid Clinic under DLSA ii) DLSA Office and iii) MASLSA Office for such legal aid assistance.
Similarly the District Law Enforcement Authority, Imphal East (DLSA IE) under the auspices of MASLSA organized a Nokphade play called “Eikhoi Khangminnasi” at Lamlong Bazar, Imphal East.
The program was attended by RK Memcha, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal East and Chairman, DLSA, IE; Ojesh Mutum, MASLSA; N Lanleima, Chief Financial Tribunal & MACT; Arshad Saeed Shah, Secretary, DLSA; RK Tejbir, Divisional Police Officer, Porompat; Ng Jadumani, Officer-in-charge, Porompat PS and Thoudam Ruhinikumar, producer and director, Manipuri comedy series ‘Nokphade’.
The play is by renowned artistes of Nokphade of the State and aims to spread legal awareness through comedy.
Posters about the rights of the arrested, access to legal aid, lok-adalat, etc. were distributed in and around Lamlong Bazar and the audience of the play.
