Guwahati: Prime Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma Several infrastructure projects of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) were inaugurated on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that these new facilities will help GMCH to perform its various functions as a medical college and hospital, efficiently.
It will also go a long way in helping the government realize its long-term plans for GMCH, Sarma added.
Referring to a new medical college in Guwahati, the minister said that the city getting two medical colleges would ensure utilization of resources and hassle-free treatment of patients.
He also announced that the long-standing demand of GMCH students for a playground would be given priority.
Among the facilities inaugurated by the minister is a 156-bed guest house, built under corporate social responsibility (CSR) and funded by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
A modern 450-seater college hall built with the financial support of Oil India Limited, new additions to Hotel no-4, nurses’ quarters and principal’s quarters were also inaugurated by Sarma.
