Thomas shot a detention officer and another person multiple times at an apartment complex in McDonough earlier this month, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office said.
The officer, identified only as Officer Williams, was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was listed as stable. A second person, who has not been identified, also succumbed to his injuries.
Thomas also went on the run after the shooting after leaving the scene in a Toyota Camry later located in Atlanta.
Investigators said he also got his help to avoid being caught. Lashonda Ley and Joseph Kimber are charged with apprehending a fugitive accused of helping Thomas.
A third man, DeMarie Coulter, was actively helping Thomas after the shooting, according to investigators. Coulter is still at large.
Defendants have obtained warrants against Thomas for one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
