Guwahati, November 17: The Assam Government in its Cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to create 72 temporary posts in the Assam Civil Service Cadre. According to reports, the posts of 72 ACS officers to be created will be Grade 1 senior and are expected to strengthen the organizational structure of the departments.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the important decisions of the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday at Janata Bhawan.

He took to his Twitter account and wrote, “In the Assam Cabinet today, we have taken several decisions regarding the formation of Nagrik Commissions for Police-Public Liaison, Grade 1 Senior Officers. ACS, revised salary of Judicial Officers, allowance of PRI members, civic body. election rules, etc.”

In addition, there will be a total of 250 ACS officers in Grade-I from the current strength of 178.

The shortfall in numbers will be filled by promoting 72 senior grade II officers from 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2004 service, according to CM Sarma’s Twitter handle.
