Jackson, Mich. (WILX) – A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identification of the suspect in Friday’s Jackson shooting.
According to authorities, the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting near the intersection of Mechanic and Ganson streets just before 11:45 p.m.
When officers arrived in the area, they observed the suspect walking from Morrell Street down Chittock Avenue.
Police said the suspect dropped a rifle, pointed it at officers and ran down Chittock Avenue, passing through some houses.
Police said they heard a single gunshot shortly after the suspect went behind the house.
A K-9 unit from the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety was brought in to assist. A gun and a spent shell case were found at the spot where the accused ran, but the police could not find the accused.
Police have not released a description of the suspect.
The Jackson Police Department is asking for help identifying the suspect and is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest.
