Jacksonville, Fla. – Three men have pleaded guilty and been sentenced to life in prison in the 2020 fatal shooting of a Jacksonville man who was shot and killed at a Mandarin apartment complex.

Elizas Alhirsh, 34, was killed in a planned robbery, prosecutors said, and Andrew Rauco panicked and opened fire, according to court documents. An investigation revealed that the evidence leading to the arrest was Rauko’s cellphone, which detectives said he dropped while running from the scene.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant to access the phone, which contained images of jewelry and a watch worn by Alhirsh taken in the robbery. The JSO also has the statement of a witness who overheard Rauco planning the robbery.

JSO eventually arrested two men, Lavonta Burrell and Jergen Marku. According to a warrant, Rauco told Rauco and Burrell to rob Alhirsh to pay off Rauco’s drug debt.

Rauco and Burrell were sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday. Marku, who was sentenced to life imprisonment last month, is in prison.
