A shooting on the campus of the University of Virginia has left three people dead and two others wounded, according to university police. University police identified the suspect as student Christopher Darnell Jones and said multiple agencies were involved in an active search.
Police said Christopher Darnell Jones was wearing a “burgundy jacket, blue jeans and red shoes” and was driving a black SUV.
The university sent an email recommending that all students seek safety and follow shelter-in-place commands as the situation remains active.
The shooting is the latest in a wave of gun violence on US college and high school campuses in recent years.
